About Us – What We Do

The Holy Qur’an is filled with verses inviting man to use his intellect to think and ponder on their lives. For us, “the goal of human life is to discover the Truth which is none other than worshiping Allah in His Oneness.” The extensive literature in Hadith is also full of references to the importance of knowledge.

“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

“Whoever treads a path in seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him the path to Paradise.” (Al-Tirmidthi)

These ideas have been echoed throughout the history of Islam and encourages Muslims to seek knowledge wherever it might be found. Following this very guidance obtained through the Quran, the Galhinna Welfare Association (GWA) had initially placed a special significance on Education which has now in turn become the primary goal of the Association. Education has provided a lot of us, from Galhinna, a pathway to a better life and it is the firm belief of the association that education holds the key to a better society. GWA also recognizes the importance of the younger generation, whose development would lead to the development of the whole community around them. Thus our projects have been focused primarily on education and the younger generation. Presently we’re spearheading a number of development projects in Galhinna with great success.

The goals of the Galhinna Welfare Association have been geared towards improving the quality of life of the children of Galhinna with a special focus on the Schools & Madarasas by concentrating on the following four areas:

1. Education
2. Welfare
3. Health
4. Sport

Such is the beautiful nature of Galhinna; with its serene environment and people who are so gentle and modest. The schools and madrasas have provided education to many. However, there has not been much enthusiasm with regards to improving the sports and leisure and there is still poverty amongst some in the area. We aim to see that the people of Galhinna do more to advance their education, especially that of the pupils of the schools and madrasas. We also hope to improve the availability of facilities to cater for sports and leisure, while trying to alleviate poverty in the village.
