We are proud to mention that the first welfare association which was established out of Sri Lanka to serve the people of Galhinna is ‘Galhinna Welfare Association UK. The following personalities are the pioneers in many ways and they are the great individuals of our people.

  • The first Trustee was Marhoom Mattisa Appachi Ahmed Lebbe
  • The first Alim was Marhoom Periya Alim Appatchi Abdul Qadar Alim
  • The first Afdhalul Ulama graduated at Chennai University was Marhoom M.H.M. Shareef known as ‘Kunchalim’
  • Marhoom Shareef hajiar was chief trustee for many years
  • The oldest ulama was Marhoom Junaid Alim
  • The first teacher was Marhoom Y.A. Majeed Master
  • The first Circuit Education Officer was Marhoom Moulavi H.A. Azeez

  • The creative poet who was known as ‘Kalloottu Kvirayar’ was Mr. A.H.M. Haleemdeen

  • Dr. Ameer Zainudeen of Galhinna obtained Doctorate in Chemical Engineering in the University of London
  • Mr. H.M. Farook Attorney-at- Law was appointed as a High Commissioner of Kenya Marhoom
  • Dr. Al Haj Moulavi Salahudeen who composed more than 250 books and freely distributed more than nine million copies all over the world was honoured by UNICEF.
  • Marhoom Dr. M.C.M. Zubair was the was the first western medical doctor
  • The first Eastern Doctor was Dr. O.L.M. Junaideen
  • The first advocate was Mr. S.M.Haleemdeen
  • The first Machanical Engineer is Mr. A.M.Munas
  • The first Civil Engineer is Mr. J.M. Mubarak

  • Marhoom Mama Haniffa was a famous novelist
  • M.H.M. Mansoor, a youngster of this village was awarded gold medal for the all island best student of the year 1980
  • Moulavi H. M. Zameel is director of Sri Lankan Muslim Religious & Cultural Affairs
  • Al Haj Muslim Salahudeen is a leading gem merchant. He has been awarded the best exporter of gemstones from Sri Lanka on several occasions
  • The first Mufthi is A.M.Kamil
  • The first Hafiz ul Quran is Al Hafiz J.M. Munawar
  • The first lady Hafiza is Hafza Khalid.
